Introduction to Human Trafficking Prevention Course Banner

Everyone in the U.S. should have at least a basic understanding of the facts around human trafficking and learn how using a trauma-informed approach with survivors promotes healing.

Increase awareness and improve services and interventions by taking this 2-hour course. This curriculum was developed by the Institute for Trauma & Resilience Studies in FSU's College of Social Work. Professionals will gain introductory knowledge of human trafficking dynamics, including an overview of legal and research updates. Learners will better understand the dynamics of sex and labor trafficking as well as the tactics of traffickers and the impact of this “hidden crime” on victims.

This course enables all professionals to develop basic knowledge and skills to improve service delivery to clients. It’s a great introduction to the topics covered in more detail in our Professional Certification in Human Trafficking Prevention and Intervention.

This online, self-paced curriculum includes about two hours of interactive course content featuring evidence-based readings, common recruitment tactics, risk factors for victims, trauma-aware approaches to assist survivors, multimedia materials, knowledge checks, and a final assessment.

This course can be used towards satisfying the elective component of the Professional Certification in Resilience Strategies in the Workplace. See learning pathway below for more information:
